YOUR DOCUMENTS. YOUR DEVICE.

Privacy policy

A clear look at what stays on your device, when you connect to other services, and the choices you have.

Effective October 19, 2026

1. Who we are

PDFDesk is a PDF reader and editor provided by the PDFDesk developer ("we", "us"). This policy covers the PDFDesk app and this privacy-policy website. For privacy questions, contact adjiesantooso@gmail.com.

2. Your PDFs and editing

PDFDesk accesses files you choose to open and, if you grant library access, discovers readable PDFs on your device. It processes document contents, text, images, page structure and annotations locally to provide previews, reading, editing, search and export.

Edits and drawn signatures are processed on your device. Export creates a new copy at the location you select; the app does not overwrite the source PDF through its Save copy flow. A location you choose in the system file picker may belong to a cloud storage provider, which handles that file under its own privacy policy.

We do not receive your document contents, annotations or signatures through a PDFDesk backend. If you email us a document or screenshot for support, we receive the material you choose to send.

3. Information stored on your device

  • Reading progress: saved page positions and document identifiers, which may include filenames, file paths, revision information or PDF URLs.
  • Library search: an on-device database containing document identifiers, filenames, page numbers and extracted PDF text. This cache can contain sensitive information from your PDFs. Content indexing is enabled by default for eligible local documents; you can clear the index and pause indexing from Search PDFs.
  • Editing access: the number of completed free saves and a locally cached unlimited-editing entitlement.
  • Temporary data: document data and previews may be held in memory or app-managed temporary storage while you work. Recent documents are maintained for the current app session.

This information supports app functionality. It is not sent to us for advertising or analytics. Operating-system backup, storage and device-security settings may also affect app data.

4. Links and network connections

When you open a PDF from a URL, the app connects to that website to retrieve the file. That website and its service providers can receive your IP address, the requested URL and normal network-request information. An HTTP link is not encrypted in transit; use HTTPS links where possible.

If you follow a link inside a PDF, your browser or another app may open. That destination's privacy practices apply. PDFDesk does not control external websites, email apps, phone apps or cloud storage providers.

5. Purchases and restoration

Unlimited editing is offered as a one-time in-app purchase through Google Play or Apple's App Store on supported platforms. The store processes payment and may provide the app with product identifiers, transaction status, purchase or restoration information and receipt or verification data needed to deliver the unlock. The app stores an entitlement flag locally for continued access.

We do not receive your full payment-card details through PDFDesk. The current app has no PDFDesk server for storing receipts or purchase accounts. Your store retains transaction records under its own policies. Purchase restoration uses the store account that owns the purchase.

See Google's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. Device permissions

On Android, PDFDesk requests file or all-files access to discover PDFs in shared storage and make them available in the library. You may deny or revoke that access in system settings and still select individual files through the system picker where supported. Image selection and exported-file locations also use the system picker. Internet access supports PDF URLs and store services.

Granting file access does not upload your files to us.

7. This website and Firebase Hosting

This policy website is hosted by Google Firebase Hosting. Visiting it sends normal web-request information to the hosting infrastructure, including your IP address and requested resource. Firebase states that Hosting uses incoming IP addresses to detect abuse and provide usage analysis, and retains IP data for a few months.

This website has no analytics scripts, advertising, tracking pixels, forms or third-party fonts. It does not set application cookies or use browser local storage. Firebase Hosting is used to serve this website; its use here does not add Firebase Analytics, Authentication or Crashlytics to the PDFDesk app.

See Firebase privacy and security information and Google's Privacy Policy for the provider's practices, including international processing.

8. Sharing and support

We do not sell your personal information or share your PDFs for targeted advertising. The app connects to the services you use, such as PDF websites, your app store and file providers, as described above.

If you contact support, we receive your email address, message and any attachments. We use them to answer your request and resolve the issue. Email is handled by our email provider. We retain support correspondence only as needed to respond, keep relevant issue history, or meet applicable obligations. We may disclose information we actually hold when required by law.

9. Retention, deletion and your choices

You can clear the local PDF search index using Clear search index in Search PDFs, which also pauses indexing until you choose to build it again. You can revoke file access in system settings, clear app storage where your operating system allows, or uninstall the app to remove app-managed local data. Operating-system backups may retain copies according to your device and backup settings.

Removing the app does not delete original PDFs or exported copies saved outside its private storage. Delete those files through your file manager or storage provider. Clearing local app data also removes local reading progress and trial state; it does not cancel or erase an app-store purchase. Use Restore purchases to recover an owned unlock where supported.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction or deletion of personal information we hold, or to raise a concern with your local data-protection authority. Email us to make a request. We cannot retrieve or delete PDFs that exist only on your device or in a provider account you control.

10. Security

Keeping document processing local reduces the need to transfer your files. Please protect your device and backups, and use care when opening untrusted PDFs, following links or choosing export locations. No storage or transmission method is completely secure; PDFDesk does not promise encryption of all app-managed local data.

11. Children

PDFDesk is a general-purpose document utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information through the app. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through support, contact us so we can address it.

12. Changes to this policy

We will update this page and its effective date when our data practices change. If we add services that change how personal information is handled, we will update the disclosures and provide any additional notice or choices required.
